Bird Magazine Layout

I wrote an article about different kinds of birds and combined my Bird of Paradise meets "normal" bird image with my bird cards in a layout. This was really fun and connects with my interest in magazine lay out and design. It also
integrated my love of English and Illustration. *Unfortunately my lay out can only be seen in black and white, look to my previous posts to see the images in color*

Final Bird Image

Using mixed media I created an image showing the contrast between the colorful Birds of Paradise and the birds you see around your home. To heighten the contrast I put each bird in a natural seeming
environment. The Bird of Paradise is surrounded by tropical flowers while the crow like bird is surrounded by oak leaves. Mixed media was an interesting way of working and one I really enjoyed.

Bird Cards

I find the differences between regular birds and Birds of Paradise to be fascinating. I created artists cards that were pictures of different "normal" birds and different Birds of Paradise. I really liked using mixed media and I think it helped enhance my pieces.

September Calender Page

September is national chicken month and it's the beginning of the school year. I decided to combine these two ideas into one image for my calender image. It was my first time using water colors and it was intimidating at first, but I enjoyed it and
definitely plan on using them again.

Calender Comps

What's so special about September? That's what I set out to explore when I created a calender page for this month.
Here are two of my original ideas. I was really interested in the Fall Equinox and how I could show that in an image.
